Cooling Towers, can they be saved?

Earlier this year Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station went offline for the last time, marking the end of 142 years of UK coal power and making the UK the first G7 member to completely phase coal out from its electricity mix.

The familiar cooling towers which marked the now defunct coal power stations have been or are being pulled down at a rapid rate, and the Twentieth Century Society is running a campaign to preserve at least one set of cooling towers for the nation.

We shot this video of Willington Cooling Towers earlier this year on a beautiful misty morning, they look so quiet and majestic, a sleeping giant. If you support the idea of preserving at least 1 set of these magnificent structures please sign the petition (linked below).
