City Plan 2040

We’re proud that an image we shot of The Lookout last summer has been published in the City Plan 2040, one of the most important planning documents in the UK. City Plan 2040 was published in April this year and runs to over 300 pages and has been put together by the City of London to help shape the future of the square mile.

We have a long history of working within the City of London so to have our image used in this landmark document is exciting. The image has been published extensively by WilkinsonEyre and depicts “The Lookout” the free to access viewing platform at the top of 8 Bishopsgate.

The plan explains:
”The City of London is like nowhere else on Earth. A global economic powerhouse, and an ancient city. A centre of collaboration and innovation for the hundreds of thousands of people who work here every day. A destination for visitors and tourists who come to experience our unparalleled culture and heritage. A unique place to live – right in the heart of the capital. A place where the architecture of centuries past sits cheek-by-jowl with modern skyscrapers, creating a thrilling juxtaposition of form and function and a skyline that is recognisable the world over – telling the history of this great capital city in microcosm.”

”The City of tomorrow will be shaped by many people, groups and organisations – as has this City Plan. It sets out our vision for a Square Mile that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable; a City that becomes ever more vibrant and competitive; a place that welcomes everyone; a place that – as it changes – continues to be utterly, thrillingly unique.” Shravan Joshi - Chairman of the Planning & Transportation Committee
