”The scheme provides for 234 purpose-built student bedrooms, responding to York’s existing shortfall and helping to free up local family housing.
The mass of the proposed development has been refined through a robust Pre-Application process, during which feedback from Planning officers has been integrated into the current proposals.
Proposals are to bring the building line forward and help to reinforce a fragmented street pattern.
Enhancements to the pedestrian experience along Layerthorpe will be achieved through the creation of an active and inviting street frontage. This will entail establishing a seamless connection between the communal spaces within the building at ground level and the pavement outside.
The building edge is to be softened by integrating high quality landscaping providing greenery which is currently lacking in the area. Overall, this approach will contribute to a more dynamic and enjoyable urban environment along Layerthorpe.”
