Fleet Street Hill

Morris and Co’s Fleet Street Hill proposal as viewed from Allen Gardens - Visualisation by Blackpoint Design

We’re proud to share a recent project we worked on with Blackpoint Design + Morris and Co, in Shoreditch, East London.

Fleet Street Hill occupies a cramped site between 2 railway lines and in the shadow of the former Shoreditch East London Line Station. I didn’t realise there was an old station in this location, it opened in 1876 and was the northern terminus of the East London Line. It was permanently closed in 2006 and replaced by Shoreditch High Street station in 2010. The station was one of only a few on the London Underground network with a single platform.

”Developer Blue Coast Capital (BCCAP) is proposing to revitalise the derelict site to deliver a long-term, beneficial asset to Spitalfields. The proposals comprise of a co-living development, including affordable housing and family homes, an exciting community offer at the ground floor, added public spaces and improvements to the public realm.

BCCAP has engaged with several key political community stakeholders in the Brick Lane and Spitalfields area and has held workshops to better understand local priorities for the new development. Following these consultation events and activities over the past two years, we are now holding a public exhibition to present our detailed proposals for the site”

The site is currently constrained and the pedestrian access to the park is via a small alley. The proposal will open up a wider avenue.

Overground trains pass by the proposal on their way in and out of Shoreditch High Street.
