Garnett Architecture’s proposals at 50 - 51 Russell Square have now been submitted to London Borough of Camden for planning.

Working alongside Blackpoint Design, White and White got to site before dawn on a cold, crisp sunny Saturday to produce these striking backplate photographs.

North Facing Facade
Sometimes what looks like a problem is actually a blessing. At the time of year when we helped produced these visuals the sun did not hit the front facade, it’s north facing. That’s a dilemma, as it means we couldn’t use the sun to activate the facade or pick up detailing with shadows, it could have lead to the front of the site looking flat or dark. Blackpoint Design and White and White worked together to find the best ways to resolve this problem, the most effective solution was to shoot when the light poured down the side of the site, it’s quite dramatic with the light almost wrapping around the building. The colour of the autumnal trees also was a big aid in adding additional interest and intrigue. While autumn and winter can be challenging for us photographers and visualisers it can lead to pretty special moments you just don’t get in the summer.
